Recipes for Healing
Excerpts from community-based resource and graphic novel, Recipes for Healing, created with Asian Pacific Islander Domestic Violence Resource Project (API DVRP). The graphic novel is a survivor centered, multi-generational story of healing and love of a Lao-Bengali family and their communities, told in two parts. Part 1, Bibi’s story, is illustrated by me! Bibi explores intergenerational healing, gender identity, growing pains, reparenting, queer chosen family, and love. The stories were written collaboratively with a DVRP team after trauma-informed community focus groups, where we discussed what kind of narratives our communities wanted to be told and explored.
